Hadyn Buxton is a recording, mix, atmos, live engineer and educator based in Melbourne, Australia.
Hadyn is considered one of Australia’s premier recording and mix engineers, creating over 100 albums across 25 years in the industry. He is highly sought after in classical, jazz and alternative genres in particular, and is passionate about recording unique artists that sit outside the mainstream.
Beginning his career in Melbourne’s legendary studio Metropolis, Hadyn learnt the ropes as an assistant engineer for many iconic recordings by Australian artists. Hadyn has worked with a huge diversity of clients, supporting them to bring projects to life on any scale, in any genre, and at any career stage. He is comfortable recording and mixing projects in protools, logic and ableton, and has created records with the highest production values from loungerooms to major recording studios in equal measure.
His recording credits include Uncle Archie Roach, Luke Howard, Ecca Vandal, Grigoryan Brothers, Trial Kennedy, Steve Magnusson, Sam Anning, Spirograph Studies and Nat Bartsch. Several of his albums have gone onto win ARIA and APRA awards, including Archie Roach’s acclaimed final recordings The Songs of Charcoal Lane and One Song, and Luke Howard’s The Sand That Ate The Sea.
In recent years he has expanded to work in live sound, tour management and stage management - working with artists including Martha Wainwright, Richard Thompson, The Getaway Plan, Ecca Vandal and Sophie Hutchings.
He works comfortably in studio and live immersive audio formats, producing atmos mixes for Luke Howard, Grigoryan Brothers and Nat Bartsch. His is able to work on scalable multi-channel surround sound live shows.
Hadyn is also a passionate educator and mentor. He is a tutor in audio production at Monash University and supports emerging artists and producers through Amica Familia, the mentoring arm of Amica Records, founded by Nat Bartsch.
